1- Administrative Facts:

Anti-Corruption Organisation(ACO) came into existence vide G.O.-2049/8-1-64/76, dated 18-04-1977. It is headed by Addl. Director General of Police who, in turn, is assisted by an Inspector General of Police and two Dy. Inspectors General of Police. Its 18 Units are headed by Dy.Ss.P and supervised by Superintendents of Police/Addl. Superintendants of Police :

1- To conduct Enquiries/Investigations against police personnel up to the rank of Addl. S.P. and officers of other departments of U.P. Government, equivalent to the rank of Inspector of Police Department, on reference from District Magistrate or Head of Departments. The ACO can conduct such enquiry and investigation into the matters involving corruption, extortion, deliberate harassment and revengeful attitude or misuse of special emergency powers with malafide intention

2- To collect Intelligence against corrupt Police personnel and lay trap in accordance with rule

3- To conduct enquiry into corruption related complaints against non-gazetted public servant of the state on reference from competent authority.

4-Conduct in-depth analysis of corruption related matters and suggest, appropriate measures to the government for effective tackling of the menace of corruption.
